History

Six decades of basic refractories — from a pioneering Konya plant to a 40-country exporter.

A Japanese-rooted pioneer of Turkish refractories.

KONREF began in 1966 with the involvement of Japan's Marubeni Corporation — a heritage of technology and partnership that still informs our standards today. We were the first company in Türkiye and the Middle East to make basic, magnesite-based refractories in a fully integrated way.

Decades of investment in mining, the rotary kiln, modern laboratories and computerised production lines have made KONREF the country's largest refractory producer.
