Protecting the people who work in our mine, kiln complex and production plants — through systematic safety management and a culture that takes risk seriously.
KONREF operates in environments where the hazards are real: underground and open-cast mining, a rotary kiln at above 1,700 °C, heavy-pressing machinery, forklift and crane operations, and industrial-scale handling of mineral dust. These hazards are managed — not eliminated — through systematic risk assessment, engineering controls, training and monitoring.
Our OHS approach is aligned with Turkish occupational health and safety legislation (Law No. 6331) and applies to all employees, contractors and visitors working on our sites.
Systematic hazard identification and risk assessment across all work areas — mine, kiln, pressing, packaging and logistics. Regular review and update when processes change.
Induction training for all new employees and contractors, job-specific OHS training, and periodic refreshers. Records maintained for every worker on every site.
Mandatory PPE matched to the hazard profile of each work area — respiratory protection in dusty environments, high-temperature PPE near the kiln, appropriate footwear and eye protection throughout.
Workplace dust concentration monitoring in the pressing hall, raw material handling and packaging areas. Medical surveillance for workers with potential silica or magnesia dust exposure.
All incidents and near-misses are reported, investigated and closed with corrective actions. We track leading and lagging indicators to drive continuous improvement.
Site emergency response plans, regular drills, designated first-aid officers and first-aid facilities on all sites. Coordination with local emergency services for major incident scenarios.
